Youth Entrepreneurial Experience

Theme: Entrepreneurship

Are you someone who likes to build new things, has new ideas, or just enjoys investigating the newest products, gadgets, and technology?! Then you are someone who thinks just like an Entrepreneur! During this engaging session for youth, they will learn what an entrepreneur is, how they act like an entrepreneur, watch quick pitch videos from youth across Nebraska, and create a prototype of an idea or business that solves a problem they may have. They will also develop and demonstrate entrepreneurial skills such as creativity, motivation, achievement, problem-solving, and risk-taking. Finally, youth will celebrate the successful completion of their project. This session is a live session that gives an introduction to entrepreneurship and is designed for after school programs to join and participate together.

Speaker Information:

Andy Larson, Extension Educator Nebraska 4-H Youth Development

Andy is currently the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Educator at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary/Middle Education and a Masters of Business Administration in Leadership and Change both from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Andy has worked in leadership roles for out of school time programs for 12 years inlcuding serving as the Senior Program Director at the YMCA, Before and After School Program Director at Duluth Edison Charter Schools, and the Community Education Program Supervisor for Eden Prairie Schools. He has also served as a Varsity High School Soccer Coach for 5 years at Marshall High School in Marshall, MN and Assistant Soccer Coach at Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN. Andy founded a non-profit organization during his undergraduate experience and has started several other clubs and organizations. Andy has a passion for leadership, youth development, and entrepreneurship .
